The inspirational true story of Irena Gut, a young Polish woman who was forced to work as a housekeeper for a Nazi Major during WW2. When she learns the Jewish ghetto is to be liquidated, she helps 12 Jewish workers by sheltering them in the safest place she can think of: the cellar of the German commandant's home. For two years, until the end of the German occupation, Irena uses her courage and her wits to hide her friends and keep them alive against all odds.
